The Prime Minister, Edi Rama , together with his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni , signed an agreement today, according to which two camps will be installed in Albania for refugees who are saved at sea on their way to Italy .

However, in a statement from 2021, the head of the Albanian government declared to journalists that Albania will never be a country where very rich countries will create camps for their refugees.

Despite this, the agreement signed today dictates that the camps in Shengjin will be ready starting next spring and will be able to welcome around 3,000 immigrants per year according to Italian media.

" I am not here to explain the statements of British ministers. But, since you asked, Albania will never be a country where very rich countries will create camps for their refugees, never ", declared Rama to the journalists.
