Prime Minister Edi Rama says that the conflict between Israel and Hamas must end before it gets out of control and escalates in the region. In a reaction to X, commenting on recent developments, Rama says that Albania supports the US call for a humanitarian pause in Gaza.
The head of government adds that after the attack on Israel on October 7, Hamas cannot have a political future while adding that in exchange for a ceasefire, the release of the hostages taken by Hamas must be ensured. He adds that he will meet with other leaders at the Paris Peace Forum on this conflict.
"While we stand firmly with Israel against Hamas, we are also deeply concerned about the civilian suffering and destruction in Gaza. It is essential to end this conflict before it escalates further and gets out of control. Albania supports President Biden's call for a humanitarian pause in hostilities. In exchange for an immediate ceasefire, the Arab League and Turkey must ensure the unconditional and safe release of all hostages held by Hamas. After the horrific crimes committed on October 7, there can be no political future for Hamas. Under a UN mandate, an international force led by the Arab League could temporarily take control of Gaza, facilitating a transition of governing responsibilities from Hamas to the Palestinian Authority. "Soon I will join other world leaders at the Peace Forum in Paris, where we will discuss ways to restore peace in the Middle East," Prime Minister Rama wrote.
