Albanian Parliament Member Artan Luku calls on the parliament and his colleagues to no longer ignore the voice of the citizens, who have been demanding a new Albania for 31 days.
The legislator of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, through a status on social networks, writes that as a deputy of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, he is ready to put his mandate in the service of strengthening democracy, by directly supporting 3 main issues, "the repeal of the law on protected areas, the reform of the law on referendums and constitutional amendments for a national proportional electoral system, with open lists, while maintaining representation with 140 deputies."
"For 31 days, citizens have been protesting and demanding to be heard, while Parliament continues to behave as if they are the enemies of the country. This institutional behavior is unjustifiable in a representative democracy, where the constitutional and representative obligation is to listen, react and address the demands of citizens!
Parliament cannot be indifferent to a protest that has lasted for more than a month.
Protest is not a threat to democracy, the threat is ignoring it!
"As a deputy of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, I put my mandate at the service of any initiative that strengthens democracy and restores to citizens the right to directly decide on issues of national importance," writes Luku, highlighting the 3 main priorities.
-Repeal of the law on Protected Areas.
-Reforming the Law on Referendums according to the most advanced European models, including the Swiss model.
-Constitutional amendments for a National Proportional system with open lists while maintaining representation with 140 deputies.
Luku emphasizes that sovereignty belongs to the citizens and no Parliament can continue to ignore it!
