DECISION: The new commercial port of 'Porto Romano' with a cost of 422

The construction of the new commercial port in Porto Romano will be done with funds from the state budget.

The decision was taken at today's government meeting, where the source of funding for this project was also classified through the budget review. In the initial budget, the source of funding was unspecified.

The investment value for the construction of the commercial port in Porto Romano amounts to over 422 million euros. 

This change in the funding source was also announced earlier by Prime Minister Edi Rama after the 2-day government meeting in Shengjin. 

The entire project for the construction of the new commercial port of Porto Romano is expected to be completed by 2026.

The total cost of this project, which will be financed with budget funds, is 43 billion ALL.

Only for this year, funds worth 8.5 billion ALL were provided in the initial budget.

But with this review done, it is expected that the new funds will be determined as well, how the financing of this project will be distributed over the years.  

The commercial port is moving to Porto Romano, because a tourist port will be built in Durrës. 

Currently, a contract has been signed with a group of companies for the preparation of the technical project, while the new port will process 2 million containers per year, and it is planned to receive about 1 million passengers.
