The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called the government's decision to reduce the price of electricity an electoral initiative.
In a press conference, he said that Rama took power when the price of energy was even lower than it is now, after the reduction for a year.
" Rama took the price at 77 lek, increased it to 95 lek and now reduced it to 85 lek. Why is this a discount? The public enterprise is obliged to reduce the price of energy in proportion to the reduction of losses. Energy is a regulated price, it is not a cheap price. If you reduce losses, you will sell it cheaper. Billions have been invested here. These people claim that the discounts have been significantly reduced and are reducing the price for a year. This is a typical electoral reduction, in violation of every code, in an attempt to steal votes ," said Berisha.
According to him, "The DP has its own plan for the price of energy and this project consists of setting the price at 7 lek per kWh for the first 300 kWh, the second price at 100 lek for the next 400 kWh. On top of that, there will be a third price for those who live in luxury and have gold-plated toilets, they will have a price of 1000 lek per kWh, while business will go down to where it was at 60 lek per kWh."
