A week ago, the US Department of State announced a "non-women" list that included officials and former officials from the Balkans, among them the former mayor of the municipality of Kaçanik in Kosovo, Xhabir Zharku, who was once also one of the KLA commanders.
To talk about his inclusion in the US blacklist, Zharku was invited to the "Zone Zero" studio with journalist Milaim Zeka in Top News.
According to him, the list published by DASH is not correct because he was released in 2023 for the same crimes for which he is accused, after the court deemed him innocent.
"I agreed to come here, to show that I have nothing to do with that case and I think that that list is not correct because for that charge that is there I was released on January 16, 2023 where the prosecutor also filed the complaint and the court of The appeal acquitted me of this charge of corruption and abuse of office. I don't know from where DASH got this information", said Zharku.
Denying that he was involved in corruption and abuse of office, the former mayor of the municipality of Kaçanik, said that DASH could have the wrong information.
"Or the outdated information service, but an informant in Kosovo, since we have enough of them, I believe that I was found on that list by chance. I want to believe that the people in DASH in this case have gone astray, because I do not believe that those who want to establish order and order and who trust the decisions of the courts, made a decision contrary to what was taken in court" , he said. the former official.
"For me, it is not the end of the world", he emphasized, underlining that it is important that Kosovo is not part of the black list and is always on the side of the USA.
Zharku, who according to the DASH report is involved in acts that undermine democracy, is banned from entering the United States of America. This sanction weighs on every family member of the former official.
