The new parliamentary session for 2026 has begun with strong debates.

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi said that this session aims to have laws adopted in parliament that bring Albania closer to the EU.

His speech was interrupted several times by Gazment Bardhi, who had been led to his feet, along with other DP deputies.

Bardhi mentioned the words "Shame, shame" several times, objecting in harsh tones to the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku in the hall,

Gazment Bardhi: Balluku should be in prison. Shame, shame.

Niko Peleshi: Today we have the opening of the new session. Don't shout. I hope that this year will be a peaceful year institutionally and that citizens will have a better life. You will be careful. And in this new session, the parliament's main narrative is EU integration.

"How can you not get tired, man of the soil?" he addressed the Speaker of Parliament Gazment Bardhi, who shouts all the time demanding "that the SP hand over Balluk to justice."

Peleshi, for his part, said that hate speech cannot be normalized in this way.

"The Assembly should be more professional and European," he said.
