The joint meeting between the governments of Albania and Kosovo, which was planned to be held the next day in Gjakovë, has been cancelled.
Media sources from the Albanian government have said that they do not plan to travel to Pristina for this meeting. The Kosovar side was not informed about this because this morning Prime Minister Albin Kurti confirmed the holding of the meeting.
The reason is suspected to have been the tensions between the two prime ministers Edi Rama and Albin Kurti regarding the draft proposed by the head of the Albanian government for the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo.
Asked today about this topic, Albin Kurti did not spare Edi Rama his sarcasm where he said: "I believe that Rama believes that his proposal is good. But if this is the case, let him propose it to the Serbian president Vučić in one of the joint meetings of the Open Balkans, to apply it to the Albanians of Preševo, Bujanovci and Medveja. Article 8 point 1 of the Constitution of Albania also obliges the Prime Minister of Albania for this.
Whereas, the day before, Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the SP's 32nd anniversary event, openly expressed his regret for the fact that Vucic and Kurti had rejected his draft for the association without reading the content.
"I am glad that the effort to make a concrete contribution to the dialogue has been well received by the allies. As for those who have opposed it, without knowing the content, as in Pristina and Belgrade, saying that they do not want to hear about a proposal from Albania, I say two things. First, those who talk like this are still living with communism in their heads when politics was about who said it and not what they said. Second, this region is both ours and some others'. If it suits them better to still play wars while neither side nor the other can open one to the other, not a war but not a shot that crosses the borders because America and NATO are there. Allies are running out of patience. I tell them that we are not at all interested in war games, but we are against that war," Rama declared.
At the meeting to be held in Gjakova, 13 agreements were expected to be signed between the two governments.
