Athens continues to threaten to block Albania's EU membership, due to the Fredi Beleri case.

The next statements came from the chairman of the Party of Greek Democrats and at the same time former Foreign Minister of Greece, Andreas Loverdhos.

The latter had a meeting in the prison of Fier with the elected mayor of the municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, who has been sentenced by SPAK to two years in prison.

"I came and visited Mr. Beleri. As a professional in the field of laws, a lawyer and a politician, I want to emphasize that in Albania laws do not exist. In relation to the case of Fredi Beleri, I want to say that under these negative institutional conditions, Albania has no chance to join the European Union", he said in a statement to the media.
