DP leader Sali Berisha has declared that the Democratic Party will file a criminal complaint for the rally organized by Prime Minister Edi Rama in Skanderbeg Square, where, according to him, public administration and employees of the Municipality of Tirana were forced to participate.
During a media conference, Berisha described this rally as "Erion Veliaj's political funeral" and accused the government of putting pressure on the administration.
"We will file a criminal complaint. We are convinced that SPAK reviews with great priority the files submitted by the government, while neglecting ours. But justice delays, but it does not forget," declared Berisha.
He stressed that the rally participants were afraid to appear on camera and called the event "the first mask rally."
“People hid their faces because they knew they were forced to participate. They did not want to be involved as witnesses to an illegal process,” Berisha said.
The former Prime Minister warned that any employee who violated the electoral law will be punished and that this crime will be considered the most serious violation.
He linked the situation in Albania to political developments in the US, mentioning the election of Kash Patel as FBI director and the victory of Donald Trump.
"If we do not punish electoral crime, then with our own hands we dig a hole for Albanian democracy," Berisha concluded, emphasizing that the DP will continue the battle for free and fair elections.
