Today they consider it a betrayal of the opposition, what Meta-Berisha said 5
Ilir Meta and Sali Berisha

Today marks 5 years since the May 17, 2017 agreement between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the then leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, where he agreed to run in the elections with a semi-technical government, after "threats" from the former leader of the Democrats. with the tent set up on the Boulevard that he did not leave and did not run in the elections without the resignation of the head of government.

Today, this agreement is considered by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and current President Ilir Meta as the biggest betrayal committed by Basha against the interests of the opposition in the service of Rama. They consider it a shameful deal that only served Rama. Moreover, the former Democratic leader does not hesitate to mention it many times during his speeches, that since that date, Basha has been sold to Rama, or taken hostage to the latter.

But, 5 years ago, the Berisha-Meta duo did not have such an opinion on this agreement at all.

In a post on social networks, Berisha considered the agreement historic, a victory of both parties, and even thanked the internationals.

"Dear friends, the leaders of the two main parties of the country signed an agreement today, with which they gave a solution to one of the most dangerous political crises of the last 26 years, which had gripped the country for several months. In this context, I think that every Albanian should feel really relieved to resolve by political means this crisis that threatened in the most serious way the existence of political pluralism in Albania, the constitutional foundations of a democratic state, social peace and stability of the country. So without dwelling on a detailed analysis, I say with full conviction that with this agreement Albania has won and that for all Albanians who love their country and the values of freedom, the agreement is a win-win story. On this occasion dear friends,Berisha wrote on Facebook at the time.

While Ilir Meta on the other hand knew the merit of himself, saying that this was what the SMI demanded, since at that time he was the chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration.

"Since the crisis arose, the SMI has had a clear position that dialogue is needed. We have said that the DP is right about the drug issue, about decriminalization, but not other demands for a technical government, or holding elections at a later date. We were in favor of a government of faith. And practically so it happened. Rama is the prime minister, and Basha proposes some ministers " , said Meta at that time, speaker of the Assembly and chairman of the SMI.
