Albania will produce ships, agreement with Italian company signed today

Italy today donated to Albania the ship "Libra", which brought the first illegal immigrants to Gjadra. The warship will be part of the Albanian Naval Forces.

Also, an agreement will be signed today between Fincanter, the shipbuilding company based in Italy, and KAYO, the state-owned security company, which will include ship production, both for the needs of the Albanian fleet, and in the future for export opportunities.

Fincantieri is an Italian shipbuilding company headquartered in Trieste, Italy. The largest shipbuilder in Europe, after the acquisition of Vard in 2013, it doubled in size to become the fourth largest in the world (in 2014). The company builds both commercial and military ships.

"Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, signed the launch of cooperation between the Fincantier company and the Albanian company 'KAYO' for a joint venture in the naval military industry, and the signing of the Letter of Intent for the transfer of the military patrol ship "Libra" to the use of the Albanian Naval Force", the Prime Minister's Office announced.
