The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after the escort by the police of the DP candidate in the district of Fier, Fation Semanjaku.
Bardhi described the event as an unprecedented act, while adding that the goal is to intimidate the opposition 7 days before the general elections.
"I am today in this late-hour communication to strongly condemn the violent escort by the State Police of the candidate for deputy of 'PD-ASHM' Mr. Fatjon Semanjku. This unprecedented act is indeed an obstacle for the candidates to make the campaign quiet in their own way. The candidate was initially prevented by the uniformed thugs of the corrupt man at the head of the municipality of Fier, Armando Subashai, from exercising his electoral activity through schemes that are a democratic form. Then, with an illegal order and an illegal detention by the State Police, he was accompanied by violence to exercise his right to campaign.
There is only one purpose to intimidate opposition candidates in the final and decisive week of the May 11 elections. The truth is that none of the DP candidates in Fier are neither intimidated nor impressed by the violation of the law by state police officers", said Bardhi.
