The Association of Local Elected Officials of Albania has reacted harshly to Prime Minister Edi Rama, regarding Rama's usurpation of all powers, following the latter's reprisals in some of the country's main municipalities.

Through a letter addressed to European institutions, the Association of Local Elected Officials of Albania emphasizes that, despite the escalation of pressure, blackmail and anti-constitutional calls against the European Charter of Local Autonomy by Prime Minister Rama towards the municipalities of Albania, the democratic mayors argue with facts and concrete examples that the actions and legal practices of the Prime Minister are in conflict with the laws of the country, the Constitution, but also with the European Charter of Local Autonomy, which should be the true destination of the aspiration of Albanian locals.

The reaction states that the Prime Minister: 'Unable to provide solutions to the problems caused by himself, he is presenting local authorities as responsible for the miserable situation.'

In conclusion of the urgent report, the Association of Local Elected Officials of Albania requests their immediate intervention to stop the usurpation of their powers by Edi Rama, as well as the restoration of local democracy, decentralization and local self-government in Albania.

The urgent report of the Local Elected Representatives to the Institutions of European Democracy presents their institutional reaction to the escalation of pressure, blackmail and anti-constitutional calls against the European Charter of Local Autonomy by Prime Minister Rama towards the municipalities of Albania!

Outraged by the despotic behavior, the lack of state culture, the deviation from decentralization, and the unjustified arrogance, the local democratic elected officials have turned to the Congress of Local Authorities of the Council of Europe to unmask the autocracy and usurpation of all powers by Edi Rama!

With a professional, realistic and cultured analysis, they explain to the official institutions of the EC that the pseudo-European policy and flag of the May 11 elections was Edi Rama's next deception in local governance!

In this report, the democratic mayors argue with concrete facts and examples that the Prime Minister's actions and legal practices are in conflict with the country's laws, the Constitution, but also with the European Charter of Local Autonomy, which should be the true destination of the aspirations of Albanian locals!

In these hot days, Prime Minister Rama is speculating on the concerns and attention of Albanian citizens!

Unable to provide solutions to the problems he himself has caused, he is presenting local government officials as responsible for the miserable situation! (whose number he himself has doubled for electoral reasons and whose powers and financial resources he has reduced to zero)

Everyone now knows that the Albanian government has failed in three main public services to its citizens and the demands of the time:

- In the water supply and sewage service!

- In the collection and processing of waste and urban waste.

- In the treatment and technological processing of wastewater and polluted waters!

These are three competencies that the Prime Minister has taken away from local government!

Every ultimatum, arbitrary intervention, and violation of the mandate of local elected officials or the competencies of municipalities is a signal of crisis and failure of his government!

Unable to perform its duties assigned to it by Albanian legislation, it has long been usurping the powers, assets, and responsibilities of the local government!

Meanwhile, unable to provide solutions to the catastrophic situations in public service to citizens, he seeks to throw local elected officials overboard from his sinking boat of troubles!
