The United States Embassy in Pristina announced on Friday that Washington has indefinitely suspended the strategic dialogue with Kosovo.
The statement says that the decision was made due to the actions of the incumbent government, which, according to the US, have increased tensions and instability, making cooperation on shared priorities difficult.
"We remain committed to advancing the common interests shared by the United States and the people of Kosovo. Our relationship with Kosovo is based on a shared goal: strengthening peace and stability as a foundation for shared economic prosperity. Unfortunately, the actions and statements of Acting Prime Minister Kurti have presented challenges to the progress achieved over the years," the embassy statement said.

The strategic dialogue between the two countries, according to the embassy, was planned to serve to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties for the benefit of American and Kosovar citizens.
In the statement, the US emphasizes that it hopes to resume this process in the future, when the appropriate conditions have been created.
What is strategic dialogue?
Strategic dialogue is a process that the US Department of State in most cases develops with various countries around the world with the aim of advancing bilateral relations.
This process involves high-level discussions between the two countries that take place either in Washington or in the respective country, on a wide range of topics such as defense, security, environment, energy, economic cooperation, etc.
Based on information from the State Department, the US has developed strategic dialogue in recent years with France, the United Kingdom, Romania, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Moldova, Greece, North Macedonia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, etc.
