Endri Shabani, the chairman of the Nisma Thurje, spoke on A2 CNN about the conflict with Adriatik Lapaj for the sole mandate of the "Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet" coalition won in the Tirana District on May 11.

According to Shabani, before the elections they had agreed to give Adriatik Lapaj an advantage by appointing him as the leader of the coalition, but if they won only one mandate, then he would not take it, but would resign.

He added that after the elections, Adriatik Lapaj changed his mind, not keeping his word.

"There is a tension related to the promise of representation in Parliament. The electoral system forced us to come up with a scheme where the closed list would resign (46 candidates) and everyone else was on the open list. Before all this happened, there was a discussion about who would lead the coalition and we decided that the youngest among us would lead it, which was Adriatik Lapaj, who, as chairman, would be even more promoted. Consequently, he would have an advantage over the others. The concern was that this advantage could be unfair. For this reason, the guarantee was that if we only get 1 mandate, Adriatik would not be there.  There was a competition among everyone else and there was a commitment from the coalition leader, who said that "you are not entering the race to make me an MP because I am not here for my personal career". This guarantee was also stated publicly later. What happened? All 46 candidates, when the date of May 11 came, signed their resignations. "The 47th candidate, who was Adriatiku, changed his mind," said Shabani.

According to him, the leader of the coalition who had an advantage over the others "took it upon himself to resign."

"This is not written in the agreement, but we are people of our word and there is evidence that he was committed. Since he was the leader of the coalition, he set the standard for others. One of the people who had signed the resignation felt used because the leader of the coalition did not keep his word," Lapaj added.
