DP MP Jorida Tabaku spoke today in the "Opinion" column on News24 about the situation in the country and the increase in energy prices. She said that the increase affects the middle class, as she also made a calculation of how much they should pay. The DP deputy also spoke about the government's anti-crisis package.
" The decline in consumption does not affect one layer, it has affected the entire economy. We are nowhere with what the region has done. Kosovo's packages are dignified. Kosovo has had 100 euros per month for pensioners. The second package has exceeded 150 million euros, let's not talk about EU countries.
No country has had so little support, having this dynamic in place. In a situation where the debt has gone 100%, when we have an extraordinary increase in prices, we do not have the luxury of being indifferent in such a situation.
800 kilowatts is the average consumption for a family. It is true that a large group are below the level of 300 kilowatt hours. The price of energy will increase by 4 times. For a family that spends up to 9100 ALL, the price will be 14 thousand ALL.
After the first price increase in 2014, this is the second price increase, while the price for businesses has been increased separately. ERRE has raised it. The layer that gets hit the hardest is the middle layer.
Anyone middle class, I've been told that 24% of families are affected by this measure, it's all middle class. Education has increased, transportation has increased, fuel has increased ," said Tabaku.
She further emphasized that the energy used and consumed today in Albania is 70% produced in the country, 30% is taken from abroad and therefore it is not necessary to increase the prices.
" Either they are lying to us, or we don't have the information that the government has. The European Commission has set a ceiling price, the price has fallen on the stock market. We depend on internally generated energy. The government has had the short-sightedness not to invest in the private sector. Only in August-September last year, more than half a million euros were lost with the purchase of energy.
10% of the economic aid is 700-1000 ALL per month. What can a family do with economic assistance with 6500 ALL.
It increases only for 20 thousand administration employees. The government does not increase the minimum wage, it is a cost for the business, because it will increase it for the employees. Business is not the government's reserve fund for the government to draw on whenever it needs it. so we are in this circus, the government's decisions were taken with our eyes closed ", stated Tabaku.
