The Re-establishment Commission will convene tomorrow at 18:00 the new National Council, issued by the Assembly on April 30.
This will be the first meeting of the members of this National Council and according to MP Edi Paloka, the purpose of the meeting is not only to constitute, but also to determine the political position of the Democratic Party on the process of electing the President of the Republic. The invitation to the meeting also went to Lulzim Basha, Enkelejd Alibeaj or Gazment Bardhi, because because they are deputies, they are automatically members of the National Council.
The move comes after Enkelejd Alibeaj will convene a parliamentary group today to discuss the President's process.
"The Temporary Re-establishment Commission, exercising the competencies of the Presidency of the DPA and the President has decided to convene the first meeting of the National Council on May 6 at 18.00 in the Headquarters of the DPA. The purpose of the meeting, in addition to the constitution of the National Council is to determine a political position of the DPA regarding the process of electing the President of the Republic. Pursuant to Article 44 point 5 of the Statute, the meeting had to be held at least 5 days from the convening, but due to the urgent nature of the issue being addressed, the Temporary Re-establishment Commission decided to hold the meeting tomorrow afternoon. The National Council of the DPA is the only body that can determine the unified position of the DPA on an important political issue, such as the election of the President of the Republic, said Paloka.
Tomorrow the new National Council called by the "Re-establishment" will also elect its chairman. According to Paloka, there must be at least two alternatives to be voted on by the National Council. The two most talked about names so far are that of Edi Paloka, who led this body until his dismissal from Basha, and the name of Jozefina Topalli, who returned to the Assembly on April 30 in the DP.
