Prime Minister Edi Rama has given approval that the SP can vote for an opposition candidate, if that proposed name is liked by them. Asked by journalists after the end of the SP Presidency, Rama said that they will not sit at the table with prejudices and will give their approval.

In case they do not agree with the opposition on a joint candidacy for President, the head of government mentioned again the fact that the SP has the votes to elect the president himself and will not depend on others.

"We are not sitting at the table with prejudices, we will judge by names, we will not prejudge where the proposals come from as long as we are sitting at the table with other parties as long as they are facing us in the political arena and in this matter we are in a table, so we do not have to give percentages.

If there is a likeable candidacy, we will give our 100% approval. If there will be no likeable candidacy, we will make our proposals. "If they like a proposal of ours, we will have their support. If not, thanks to the constitutional changes that were made in 2008, there are more than 71 votes in parliament and Albania will have a normal president, " Rama said.

The Conference of Presidents held a meeting at noon today, where the majority agreed with the proposal of the head of the PD parliamentary group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, who requested that May 10 be named as the start date of the presidential election process, while the head of The socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, said that May 16 should be the first round of voting for the President of the Republic.
