The KAS will meet today at 11:00 to decide whether to declare the election results in the four remaining districts of Elbasan, Tirana, Fier and Durrës valid. The decision will be made after three weeks of recounts, during which several ballot boxes in Elbasan and Durrës were reopened and votes in the two districts of Tirana and Fier were fully verified.

The DP appealed the election results in the districts, requesting the invalidity and repetition of the elections. But in eight of the districts, the request was rejected, while the result was certified by the CEC. Meanwhile, for the others, a recount was decided, a process that resulted in the DP being the party that lost the most votes, but with a negligible impact. 

On Friday, the recount of the Durrës ballot boxes, 85 of which were from the diaspora, was closed, where no change in the result was produced. Aulon Kalaja claimed that there was vote trafficking within the party and his battle was with the other Democratic candidate, former prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, who had a difference of 1 thousand votes with him.

More differences were found in the votes for the candidates, which in Tirana were more human errors, while in Fier there were cases that are seriously suspected of abuse. In Fier, the recount gave a mandate with a 10-vote difference to Maldrita Bardho, but she refused, leaving the seat to Zegjine Caushi, who had won in the first round of counting. 

The CEC has finally certified the results for the remaining 8 districts, while the mandates have also been distributed. The decision was made after the Electoral College rejected the DP's complaints for these districts, exhausting all appeals for the results.
