Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reacted after Fredi Beleri was sentenced to 2 years in prison for electoral corruption, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama.
From the window of the apartment where he is under "house arrest" for abuse of office and corruption, Berisha defended Beler saying that he was sentenced "without any reason" and "without any evidence".
The decision against Beler was given today by GJKKO, after the prosecutors found that he had distributed several thousand Lek and was caught red-handed distributing 40 thousand old Lek for a vote.
Berisha's reaction:
Every day the regime shows its ugly face. Nothing stops his crimes.
Today he testified in front of the Albanians with the punishment of the president elected by the vote of the citizens of Himara, Fredi Beleri, with the punishment without any reason, without any guilt, with the punishment based on a file compiled as in the darkest times of state security .
With his sentence, Edi Rama, my friends, proved to you Albanians that no matter how you vote, you will never get what you want with your vote.
This constitutes a flagrant act of this vicious enemy of the free vote of Albanians.
Condemning a local elected government with a farcical process means that you do not accept the will of the citizens and that you have turned justice into a blind tool of the power of crime.
