Prime Minister Edi Rama has proposed Ogerta Manastirliu as mayor of Tirana.

"The citizens of Tirana cannot wait another seven days without knowing what will happen to the Municipality of Tirana. I appreciate her for the closeness of working with her, or from a distance, but always with respect and integrity in carrying out every task, and above all for the special service to the public, the care of her collaborators and the attention to every person in Albania who has been entrusted with the task, that Ogerta Manastirliu is the person that Tirana needs today," said Rama, at today's meeting of the Socialist Party Assembly.

Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, who was following Rama's speech in the hall, seemed taken aback and her reaction when she heard the name has gone viral.

"I know it hit you like a bomb," the prime minister told him.

Meanwhile, the hall rose to its feet, applauding.
