Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about economic terms in Albania's European future and its goal of EU membership.
If it is accomplished in record time and at the technical pace things are going, the majority leader explained that this brings economic benefits to the country.
"In closing, I will say this, that the EU is an extra budget for us. In all these years, the total EU support for us in 10 years has been 1 billion. But with the entry into the EU it is more than 1 billion every year, an extra budget. In Agriculture it was less than 200 million euros, now if we enter the EU it will be 300 million euros every year. We want the vote to go to the EU and not for the swamp or the issue of let's give it to the swamp.
The EU is a family, where there are big and small. There is a rule there, the big ones, France, Germany, etc., give more to the little ones than they receive. The others are beneficiaries, who receive more than they give, just like adults take more care of the little ones. Do you remember COVID with the Greeks, when it wasn't the Greeks who gave this and that, no, the Greeks didn't give, the EU gave! Because Greece was in the EU and was part of the family, we weren't and where would we find them? We didn't have an extra budget, they did," said the prime minister.
