Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the Bunavi-Kerkovë road in Vlorë district on Monday morning, which has entered the second phase of construction. The head of government said that this project opens a new development perspective for seven villages in the Shushicë and Llakatund units.
Also present was the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, who stated that the new road will also serve the Bunavisa Military Base, which will have around 500 civil emergency forces.
"It is also the base and center of professional training for all military personnel, the Bunavi base, which will be joined by a Civil Emergency Brigade, dedicated to the Vlora region. Practically, there will be 500 military personnel and support personnel at this base, which makes it a place where more services are needed," the minister said.
Rama also spoke about other projects in this area.
"We need to improve the quality here, we are doing all that work with boarding schools and vocational schools. European boarding schools will be built so that whoever takes their child to a vocational school will have them in better conditions. When the military personnel arrive in the first months, we must create optimal conditions for them. We will cooperate with the Development Fund," the prime minister added.
There was no shortage of jokes with the citizens present.
Excerpts from the discussion:
Rama: I will drink coffee with or without tradition.
Citizen: We need you for many more years.
Citizen: We changed for you.
Rama: You changed parties for me. Listen, even Churchill changed parties when his homeland demanded it. You love him with world figures.
Citizen: We have been voting for one party for years.
Rama: You are something else, the right party has chosen you. The one who chose the wrong party has changed. This new party we have has those 70 and 40, and it also has the young. Do you regret switching parties?
Citizen: No, no.
Rama: It's a difficult moment of change, but then it passes.
