Prime Minister Edi Rama, during the second high-level meeting "Albania 2030 in the EU - The Path of Reforms", spoke again about membership in the European Union, where he said that we must be quick, so that the door is not closed to us.
The head of government further stated that Albania is well positioned in the field of good governance, anti-corruption and public procurement.
Among other things, he stressed that Albania is now a leading country in the region for public procurement, human resources management, policy coordination.
"We have opened two sets of chapters, we have ambitions to open others in the future. We are better positioned than ever in European rankings in the field of good governance and anti-corruption. We climbed 18 places in Transparency International. An assessment that was also made by Sigma, which clearly established us as a leading country in the region for public procurement, human resource management, and policy coordination.
Overall, an assessment tells us a lot to encourage us, but it does not prevent us from continuing. Consolidating everything that is in the process, since everything is still fragile, reversible, and for this reason we need the EU, at all costs, at any cost. We must enter that door, a door that has been opened with the premise that by the end of 2027 we can close negotiations and as a door that can be closed if we are not quick. The history of enlargement shows that the fates of the countries that want to enter that door and those behind that door do not always coincide. We are convinced that this commission is key not only to entering that door but to entering with a consolidated process. There is no individual freedom and equality except in the system we have chosen and in the EU.
"We have shown that we are very ambitious, it is not enough for us to do the minimum and among the many examples I can give, I bring that of public procurement," said Rama.
