Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha considered the Llogara tunnel to be the most expensive on the planet.

In the speech given to his supporters, the democratic leader said that Edi Rama said that the promise of other governments to build the tunnel had become a legend.

" Sali Berisha categorically opposed the construction of the tunnel, but Edi Rama admitted that they went to him with suitcases and bought the thief of Albania with rags. 

But why did I reject the construction of the tunnel?

First , the tunnel connects the eyes of Llogara, one of the passes with the most fantastic view in Albania.

Second, the tunnel shortens a total of 23 minutes according to a tunnel enthusiast.

Thirdly , if the Elbasan tunnel has an annual turnover of 1.6 million, how much is the Llogara tunnel?

From Palasa to Qeparo there are a total of 8,000 tourist beds, let's take 9,000 including the apartments, but you know what this means, 18,000 euros for a tourist bed. Albania has a total of 109,000 tourist beds in its entire territory, in all cities, let's say that there were 9,000 beds in the territory from Palasa to Qeparo, so doesn't 18,000 euros belong to the tourist bed? Is there a more heinous crime than this? Is there greater contempt and slander for Albanians than this? Is there a more corrupt criminal act than this my friends? Is it built this way, my friends, just to steal. Is there a more heinous crime? What about the Kalimashi tunnel, according to official statistics, the flow is 4.2 million per year. Can it be built this way just to fill the suitcases with euros. To condemn the Albanians to build tunnels which they never justify and which only a mad thief could undertake to waste and steal public money. The Kalimashi tunnel costs a total of 300 euros per passenger, the Llogara tunnel costs at least 10,000 euros per passenger. And all this while the Kalimash tunnel shortens the distance between Kukës and Tirana, 6 hours, the Llogara tunnel of great theft, shortens the distance by 23 minutes. Is there a more ugly crime than this, my friends , "said Berisha .

The Llogara tunnel, the most financed object in 2023, received 15 percent of the total investments 

The Llogara tunnel has been the most financed facility this year, just like last year among all other investment projects undertaken by the government.

Detailed data from the Ministry of Finance show that from January to September 2023, 6.7 billion ALL were released for the construction of the Llogora tunnel, which is as much as 15% of the investment funds released in the 9-month period.

Based on the disbursed funds, it seems that the works in the tunnel have progressed faster than the program, since in June 94% of the annual planning for this facility was exhausted. In total, the performance of public investments has been weak in 9 months, as only 35% of the annual plan has been realized.
