60-storey tower protest : Arlind Blind's warning: Youth Park and Lake next
View of the protest

Co Movement leader Arlind Qorri has warned of other construction permits that will destroy Tirana's parks, including Rinia Park and Tirana Lake.

During his speech at the protest against the 60-storey tower that is planned to be built in the garden behind the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Qorri said that Tirana today is among the least greener cities in Europe.

"Protecting this park is not only protecting the city, it's protecting public health. Tirana may be one of europe's least greener cities. It's this park they're taking, the Youth Park they're gonna take after that and the Lake that's eroding it day by day.

In the Ndragheta wiretaps, they said to invest in construction in Tirana, as they could take the meter with 500 euros and sell it for 3000 euros. Today the square meter in the tower costs 5000 euros, 10-fold profit in this business.

There is no european country where such mascara is made. There is no country in Europe that destroys its own heritage. Veliaj and Rama say that Tirana is not Paris to preserve. They have to be put in place for cities that are not Paris and Rome. "We have a place in the middle of the NT, why not?"
