The leader of the Democratic parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, accused the police forces of firing tear gas inside the mosque, at a moment when, according to him, there were no protesters.

"Throwing tear gas inside the mosque, at a time when there are no protesters, constitutes a serious and unacceptable act. It is a blatant violation of freedom of religion and a brutal attempt to prevent Muslim believers from performing their rites after iftar."

"I condemn with the greatest force this action, which resembles the practices of a repressive regime and contradicts every democratic standard. Today, 35 years after the overthrow of the dictator's bust, it is unacceptable that the dictatorial methods of the communist regime are used in this country. We overthrown the bust 3 decades ago, therefore we will not allow fear and violence to rise again," said Bardhi.
