"Whoever slanders the parliament should be sentenced to prison." It is this request that Lulzim Basha has sent to the Parliament of Albania for approval through an amendment to the Criminal Code.

According to Basha's proposal, when this act is committed by elected officials during the exercise of their mandate in parliamentary sessions of the assembly, or in any other form, it should be considered a criminal misdemeanor and punished with a fine or imprisonment of up to two years.

Currently, the Penal Code only provides for the penalty of a fine for this offense.
