The Lezha Police have referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, initiating proceedings at large for citizen Gjin Gjoni, 55 years old, resident of Lezha and candidate for MP from the "Democratic Party", who is accused of the criminal offense of "Defamation".

According to the Police statement, five citizens – DP, EL, ES, P. Gj. and RN – who are representatives and supporters of the “Socialist Party”, have filed a complaint against Gjoni.

They claim that he publicly defamed them through a post on the social network "Facebook", where he accused them of being involved in vote buying and exerting pressure on voters.

Police announcement:

"The Lezha Police Commissariat services referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state, for the criminal offense of "Defamation", for citizen Gj. Gj., 55 years old, resident of Lezha, candidate for deputy of the political entity "Democratic Party", after citizens DP, EL, ES, P. Gj. and RN (representatives and sympathizers of the political entity "Socialist Party") have reported that the 55-year-old has published on the social network "Facebook", a post through which he defames that 5 citizens are implicated in vote buying and voter intimidation.
