Protests against TikTok shutdown expected, police surround Prime Minister's

Citizens are expected to gather in front of the Prime Minister's Office for a protest called by Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha against the government's decision to shut down the social network "TikTok".

The State Police has taken measures to ensure the smooth running of the protest. Dozens of officers are on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, where vehicle traffic has also been banned.

Berisha has invited young people to participate in the rally, to demand the lifting of the decision to close "TikTok". Let's protest against censorship, he said a day ago.

"Edi Rama censors TikTok, the currently most modern tool, based entirely on intolerance towards it, all Albanian schoolchildren, students, high school students and other young people will have TikTok on their phones on the 12th. He will be severely punished by charging gigantic measures for this act. Let's leave everything in respect of free speech, let's protest tomorrow at 7:00 PM in 'Skënderbej' Square in Tirana, all young people. You knights of its protection, let's all gather in support of them", said Berisha.
