PD MP Gazment Bardhi has today made strong accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that he has put the Government at the disposal of the construction company of businessman Shefqet Kastrati.

Through a statement to the media, he declared that Rama is changing the law to legalize the constructions without permission. The democratic deputy further added that 3304 Albanians have been sentenced to prison for construction without permission in the last 5 years. Even though they have not done either construction like Kastrati's, nor business, he said.

Bardhi said that the General Director of the State Police and the institution subordinate to him, IKMT, in the conditions of abuse of duty, have refused not only to take measures to implement the law in this particular case, but have also refused to send the official information of requested.

According to Bardhi, the Municipality of Tirana was officially notified by him about Kastrati's additional floors without permission. Bardhi said that the Municipality is forced not to approve construction permits for additional floors, which were actually built.

The deputy added: "10 days after the Municipality of Tirana was forced not to approve the construction permit for the addition of several floors, Edi Rama puts the Government at the disposal of the construction company "Kastrati" shpk, changing exactly Article 17 of the VKM, which prevented the Municipality from Tirana in the discussion of 5 floors that were built without permission, removing the criterion that the addition cannot be more than 2%. It is VKM no. 457/29 June 2022."

Bardhi emphasized that this is a typical case of corruption. The MP said that the literature recognizes this case as "state capture" or otherwise the determination of state rules according to the clientelistic interests of one or several identified persons.
