Preliminary data from the Central Election Commission show a low turnout in partial local elections for the six municipalities, where the largest turnout was recorded in Dibra and in the smallest Durres.
According to preliminary CEC data, about 42 percent of voters voted in Diburse, durres, about 26 percent, in Kumanovo, about 36 percent of them, in Mrogozhia about 29 percent, in Vorë about 39 percent and in Kumanovo 27 percent.
According to these figures, the average turnout in the six municipalities is less than 30 percent. But who favors low turnout? In all electoral processes, history has shown that low turnout favours the ruling party, in this case the Socialist Party.
Why? This has been proven at least in the last two general elections. In 2017, the lowest number of voters in the country was registered for the first time, and the SP secured only the second term. In 2021, the record was broken again, where the percentage of those who voted in relation to the total number of voters was lower than in 2017.
Even in 2021 the Socialists were confirmed in government for their third term. Even in this case, low turnout favours the SP, especially in Durres, because figures show that neither of the two opposition candidates has been able to draw with it not only the grey electorate, as seems so far neither the Democratic Party itself.
This is one factor that favours the Socialists, the other factor that may be even more decisive and perhaps to give the Municipality of Kumanovo for the first time is the divisiveopposition of the opposition vote. This division and low turnout (about 27 percent of voters in the Municipality of Kumanovo) favour neither the DP's Jamal Iight nor the White Spahine of the House of Freedom.
