Former Foreign Minister Besnik Mustafaj has criticized the initiative taken by the opposition for an online petition against Ambassador Yuri Kim, who is then expected to be sent to the US State Department.

He said in an interview with "ABC News" that this initiative is inappropriate, as diplomat Kim represents her country.

According to him, what is happening in Albania has not happened in any country in the world.

It seems like we have entered into a new civic relationship with the US. Citizens have launched an initiative on social networks where they are collecting signatures for a petition against Ambassador Kim which will be launched by DASH?

Mustafaj: For me it is the inappropriate way to convey to DASH the dissatisfaction of a group of people. Those who take such initiatives forget that the ambassador represents her country. I do not know other countries have done this route for any US ambassador.

How politically motivated can it be?

Mustafaj: I do not know, I have seen that figures from the DP or the opposition have said that they will not support such an initiative.

Mustafaj: The US Embassy, ​​the US and the EU are the promoters and supporters of Justice Reform, so this is not the first time that Ambassador Kim has intervened. It is no longer worthwhile to deal with comments on what the ambassador is doing. For me, criticism should be directed at the judge, not the ambassador.
