Edi Rama/ Keir Starmer

Prime Minister Edi Rama has officially welcomed his British counterpart, Keir Starmer.

For the first time in Albania, Rama says that Starmer " is carrying out this official visit within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries."

During his first official visit to Albania, Starmer is expected to announce measures to stop Albanian nationals who have been deported from the United Kingdom from returning, as well as to strengthen efforts to combat money laundering between the two countries, Reuters reports.

He is expected to donate two devices for detecting forged documents, with the aim of identifying those using fake passports.

He is also expected to announce the expansion of a joint task force on migration to include North Macedonia and Montenegro.
