Parliament of Albania

The Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, has invited the heads of parliamentary groups to a consultative meeting today to discuss the formation of new parliamentary bodies.

The meeting takes place at 11:00 and focuses on the selection of members of the delegations, the Assembly Bureau, and the Council on Mandates and Rules of Procedure.

Peleshi will also present to the parties a draft for the rapid amendment of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, which will pave the way for the reconceptualization of the Parliamentary Committees, according to the model proposed by Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Socialist Party Assembly on September 11, where he also unveiled the new government cabinet.

The majority plan foresees that tomorrow (Tuesday) the Assembly will meet in the morning to establish the Mandates Council and in the afternoon to vote on the new regulation and the composition of the committees.

The SP held 7 committees, and the opposition 4, excluding the latter from the Committee on European Integration, a structure that the Democrats consider strategic. However, the opposition does not have the votes to block the changes, which are approved with 71 votes.

Following the restructuring of Parliament, the Assembly will hold a two-day debate on Thursday and Friday, on the governing program and the composition of the "Rama 4" cabinet.
