In the final days before the deadline for coalition registration, the Democratic Party appears to be finding common ground with its traditional allies to run together in the elections on May 11.
Opposition leader Sali Berisha was reticent at the last press conference, refusing to provide details of the negotiations.
"Negotiations are ongoing with other political forces. I have no right to comment on ongoing negotiations. Negotiations are ongoing and when they are completed I will inform you. We are open to negotiations with all political forces. Even the new parties and I hope they will realize it. A coalition for May 11 is the path to Albania's final victory and we are open to them", said Berisha.
The Democrats have convinced Ilir Meta's party to be on a joint list, although the latter started negotiations with the condition of having 6-7 MPs on the closed list.
The Freedom Party will receive four MPs on the safe list, where Meta himself will have his name in Tirana, Edmond Haxhinasto in Elbasan, Erisa Xhixho in Fier and Tedi Blushi in Korça. Meanwhile, several PL candidates will be on the open list.
Negotiations with Agron Duka 's Agrarian Party seem to have been easier , as he will have one MP on the safe list in Durrës, and what has been confirmed is that he himself will not run.
Vangjel Dule will secure a place for himself on the Vlora list.
Meanwhile, Fatmir Mediu will once again be an MP from the safe list of the Democratic Party in Tirana.
The Democrats' negotiations, in addition to small parties, also continue with Shpëtim Idrizi 's PDIU , which has requested 2 MPs on the safe list, while the Democrats are willing to give him only one.
March 3 is the last day when parties must submit their coalition lists to the CEC.
