Erion Veliaj, who has been in prison for several days following the GJKKO decision, gave a written interview this Thursday for the show Top Story with Grida Duma.

He spoke about the accusations against his wife, and the amounts that, according to the file, appear to have been spent by Ajola Xoxa.

Question : Did you or did you not know about the expenses of your wife Ajola Xoxa? Did you know that they were personal expenses or her business expenses? Did you know the figures for these expenses?

Erion Veliaj: My wife comes from a respectable, wealthy family and has a 17-year career in studios and private business. She has spent only 50,000 lek per month from her personal card, a total of 7 million new lek in about a decade.

Collecting all the annual balance sheets of 7-8 entities dealing with theater, scenography, video clips, operettas, musicals, fashion shows, photo shoots, and stage wardrobes over 17 years and treating them as personal in one day is wickedness and misogyny. They are all declared by each entity, with taxes, customs, and VAT over about two decades.

So, we have nothing in a 20-year-old vetting, the only one in the Republic, for her husband Erion Veliaj, and now we will sew for the wife, the son's toys, the dead father-in-law's car, the brother, the mother - anyone, just to remove from the campaign this one that defeated us deeply in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and (as soon as I get out of here) also in 2025, in a cleaner, more beautiful, more internationally recognized Tirana, with 45 ultra-modern schools, plus 110 kindergartens and nurseries, a new Theater, a new Square, a new Park, a new Boulevard, a new Ring Road, a new Castle, a new Zoo, that Saliu-Luli-Olsi didn't even have the idea or courage to build!
