Tom Doshi's PD and PSD unite, abandon Shkodra Municipal Council meeting, reason revealed

The Democratic Party and Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party have joined forces in Shkodra by abandoning the municipal council meeting.

The meeting failed to take place, as the PSD and the DP left the hall, resulting in a lack of a proper quorum.

What happened?

After only the first items on the agenda related to social classes were approved, PSD council member Marin Duhani announced that the Social Democrats would no longer attend this meeting. After a 5-minute break, the Democratic councilors also made the same decision.

Meanwhile, left-wing councilors described this decision to abandon the meeting as harmful.

Reason for the collision

At this municipal council meeting, one of the most important items on the agenda was the transfer of a large area of ??sand on Velipoja beach to the administration of the Bio Strajca sh.a company, with the aim of placing the sunbeds this summer season by this joint-stock company administered by the municipality and not by private individuals or tourist operators as was the case before.

This abandonment of the municipal council meeting by the PSD, leaving the leftists alone, comes after several dismissals of PSD regional directors in the Shkodra region, ahead of the parliamentary elections on May 11. In total, there were 18 items on the agenda, while only the first ones were approved, such as the 6% fund for February and March, the rent of social housing, emergency housing for a family and financial assistance for the damages caused by the fire to a family.
