Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has called for the resignation of Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, following the discovery of a plot planted with cannabis inside the Zall Herr military base.

In a statement published on Facebook, Berisha says Peleshi has a history with cannabis even when he was minister of agriculture.

He calls the Albanian army the first narco-army in Europe.

Police action on Monday discovered 125 cannabis roots planted inside the military ward. Police arrested three ward employees for abuse of office and 5 others were criminally prosecuted.

In Zall Herr's special troops' ward are plantations with hundreds of Cannabis Sativa.

Official sources say that in the most guarded military department of the entire Albanian army in the strict protected territory of the elite troops of our army, plantations with hundreds of cannabis roots have been found in Zall Herr.

The Democratic Party declares that this shameful scandal unprecedented in the history of the Albanian army, at the same time of the North Atlantic Alliance, deeply and with serious responsibility involves the drug-commissioner Peleshi who was accused of cannabis parcels during his period as minister of agriculture, the general staff, intelligence, military police, the military intelligence services of the army and the special forces division of Zall Herr. This scandal tragically testifies to the reinvention of Edi Rama's narco-army, which is the first and only narco-state in Europe as if it were an army of the Taliban and not the army of a NATO member state.

The Democratic Party of Albania condemns with the greatest force this shameful scandal for the army, but also the Albanian state and demands the immediate resignation of the cannabis minister Peleshi and the placing before law all responsible for this shameful and criminal act of evil.
