A few hours before the arrest decision, Sali Berisha confirms talks on the
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha

Sali Berisha does not expect another court decision Saturday, except for house arrest, seeing the entire process against him as a political process.

"How else can you think, when the whole establishment of the gang dictatorship was put in the race on who to show more zeal in his political vendetta in the function of Edi Ram," Mr. Berisha said during an interview for the "No Censorship" show on RTSH, hours before the court decides whether or not to arrest him, As a measure required by SPAK.

"The process is Orwellian, it's Kafkian. The process showed all the umaness of this regime, which has no laws, no morals," said the former prime minister, who used harsher language than usual towards SPAK leader Altin Dumani.

But is he a leftist, as Berisha says, or a pro-American, pursuing a certain agenda of the US embassy? Mr. Berisha replies: "As far as pro-Americanism is concerned, I cannot say what it stands for, but it follows the agenda of Edi Rama. I have reported in August two secret meetings with Edi Rama. He met twice in two weeks."

During the interview with journalist Elona Meço, the opposition leader tried to convey a spirit of optimism to supporters, even when asked if eventual isolation might make it difficult for him to communicate with the electorate.

"On the contrary, it inspires me more. We never win a battle without inspiration. The inspiration is the energy of every victory. There are 120,000 ways to communicate this inspiration to the electorate. There are no walls, no barriers that prevent the communication of ideals," Mr. Berisha said with as much confidence as he spoke of the success of the protests to oust Prime Minister Rama ahead of the elections.

"Our protests will be civil disobedience. We have a gang dictatorship ahead of us. Once, Enver Hoxha had class struggle as the oppressive force of society, today Edi Rama has the alliance with crime as the oppressive force of society. The weapon to awaken the sleeping lion to frightened citizens is an act of civil disobedience."

Mr. Berisha did not give details and was not specific on how the action would take place, but he was more concrete when asked about joining a political formation with the parliamentary group led by Gazment Bardhi. A seemingly pending process, but one that, it seems, has movement away from the media spotlight.

Part of the interview with the DP's Chairman Sali Berisha:

On the other hand, the process of joining the rest of the parliamentary group has been put on hold. Why are you taking so long? You got differences?

Sali Berisha: It is in continuous process and will be crowned successful.

Are there negotiations we don't know about?

N. S. N. BEN: All the things are going on in this direction.

Are you happy with the other side? No entangling?

Berry: I'm very pleased with the performance. I'm aware that problems existed, that problems are going away healing. Time is always important. I express here the most infinite gratitude to all MPs who annihiped the monist parliament and with their positions became unbeatable protagonists of the voice of 600 thousand Albanians. There is no more excellent unity than unity in battle.

With MPs and leaders of a democratic political force, red lines do not exist. Each is free. We are not the party of crime. We are not the party that voted.

I'll find you a red line. The mayor's seat is not vacant, is it?

Mr. Berisha: The mayor is in office, for the record. If one says this or that, there is no red line to say it, but the problem is that the statute stipulates that the chairman is in full office.

When do you say the process is going well and it's going to close quickly, when does that happen?

Sali Berisha: It's not a process that can be said to close after 3 days or after 5 days, but it's a process that is closing. I can say that for sure. And it is closing in the most natural way, as an understanding among fellow combatants who understand that today the DP is the last hope of Albanians.

And if you're under house arrest, does that detract from the process of joining?

Berry: Not quite. It inspires him.
