Former Minister Ilir Beqaj appears in SPAK

Former Health Minister Ilir Beqaj appeared today at SPAK, a day after inspections by investigators at his apartment, following new allegations of abusive contracts with several pharmaceutical companies.

Outside the premises of SPAK, Beqaj denied having any connection to the allegations raised against him of wealth cover-ups through links to the pharmaceutical company 'Delta Pharma'.

He said there was no financial interest in pharmaceutical companies during his time as minister.

"First of all, the minister does not make tenders. At the time when I was minister, I had no financial interest with any pharmaceutical companies in Albania or their owners.

I have been dealing with these issues for years. There was a search of my apartment, there was no need to call the lawyer because what a normal family has like items is there. Those who came and did the check showed me a court decision in the process of an investigation that is done against another person," Beqaj said.
