US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Prime Minister Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a joint press conference after the "head-to-head" meeting at the Prime Minister's premises.

During his speech, Rama thanked Blinken, that in this troubled time and consequently with a full agenda for him, he found time to stop in Tirana.

Rama said that he had an open and deep conversation with Blinken, underlining the "deep level of understanding between them".

Excerpt from Rama's speech:

It is always a day marked with special importance in Albania's international relations, the day when the secretary of state visits Albania. In our account you are the 6th, but this time we have a special assessment for this visit, as we are very aware of the turbulent time, and therefore of the special load of your agenda. The fact that you found time to stop in Tirana is for us a very important sign of friendship, but also of the appreciation you give to this friendship, this partnership and this region. Of course I can't help but share the regret that between a dinner with us and dinner in Munich, you chose the not-so-delicious German food.

I can say without any diplomatic or protocol embellishment that I am very satisfied with the open, deep conversation and the level of understanding between us. I expressed to the Secretary of State not only my thanks for the support we had from the US mission to the OBC, for our presence in the Council and for the success of our mission, in the two years that we were members, but also my gratitude for the touching message that the US ambassador in UN.
