Prime Minister Edi Rama, during the Munich Security Conference, denied news that the US government will send refugees from Palestine to Albania.
"I have not been contacted by the American government. But as long as I am at the head of the government, we will not accept Palestinians," Rama said.
This reaction comes at an important moment, when issues of migration and refugees are being widely discussed.
A few days ago, President Donald Trump did not rule out Albania as one of the countries where Palestinians from Gaza could be relocated.
Trump was asked at a press conference about the relocation of Gaza residents, and said, "of course there are other countries that want to."
Albania was proposed as a destination by one of the Israeli journalists, with a lot of influence in Israel, but everything was rejected by Prime Minister Edi Rama in a public reaction. But based on the statement of President Trump, who was specifically asked about Albania, he does not deny it, but does not even mention it, while stating that there will be negotiations with many countries.
Are you considering other countries to send Palestinians to besides Egypt and Jordan, such as Albania or Indonesia?
Donald Trump: Yes, of course. And there are other countries that want to get involved. There are a lot of people that want to get involved. There is a sense of desire to help the Palestinians. There are a lot of good countries, people who run these countries with big hearts, and this gentleman here is at the top of the list.
