Prime Minister Edi Rama held a conversation with oil suppliers in the context of the situation created by the global price crisis, following recent developments related to the war in Iran.

During the meeting, Rama claimed that, although an increase in the price of oil of up to 40% has been recorded on international stock exchanges, in Albania this increase has been more moderate. He praised the approach of market operators, describing it as responsible at this stage of the crisis.

The Prime Minister also recalled the experience of the previous crisis caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine, emphasizing that the state has been forced to take an active role in managing the situation in the fuel market.

According to Rama, the challenge remains open as no one can predict how the price of oil will evolve on the stock exchange or when the crisis will end. He announced that the current reserves of companies are considered sufficient for about 30 days, while the contracts guarantee supplies for up to 100 days.

In this context, the government is working to strengthen the state oil reserve, with the aim of reaching a physical capacity of about 100 days. Rama also announced an initiative to introduce a state factor into the market as a guarantee distributor and wholesaler, which he said will help stabilize the market and facilitate the work of operators.
