The Greek Minister of the Interior, Johannis Ikonomu, has met the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, in custody. It is learned that the meeting between them lasted over an hour.

According to News24, Minister Ikonomu entered the interior of the Durrës prison, where he met with Beleri.

It is known that they have discussed about the initiation of the judicial process and his situation after the arrest.

The meeting comes 1 day after the court decided the day before to start the trial in charge of Fredi Beleri.

Beleri was arrested on May 12 for vote-buying and despite having requested a change in the security measure at various levels of the judiciary, he remains in jail.
