From New York, where he is holding a meeting with Albanians living in the United States of America, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the achievements of his government in this decade. But as the biggest achievement, which also took the weight of the speech, Rama listed the Reform in Justice, that according to him today people with high political power have faced the law.
While two leaders of the opposition are in custody today, as well as some figures of the party he directs, the head of the government emphasized that during his government, people wearing power, whether left or right, have submitted to the force of the law.
And, apart from this reality, Rama took care to remember that, unlike the justice in the time of the early democracy in Albania, or a few years earlier, the justice today is neither oriented nor controlled by the party in power.
"People clothed in political power have submitted to the force of the law, which is equal for everyone, regardless of their position or connection with political parties, either in the government or in the opposition. Never before has an individual with a high political profile been investigated, tried or convicted by a court not controlled by politics.
Today the history of the party in power that controls justice has ended and I am proud that with the vote of the Albanians we led a deep reform in justice that none of the new EU member states did before entering the EU.
I am proud that with courage we did what no political force and no part of the political power in Albania could do. We removed the hands of political power from justice. And we did it with the full awareness of the inevitable political cost of the blows that the new law is giving even in our ranks where no one is invulnerable anymore. This is the biggest political investment of the SP of the new century", emphasized Rama.
