The Commissioner for Enlargement of the European Union, Marta Kos, has stated that in June all chapters of the negotiations with Albania will be opened, marking a decisive stage in the path towards EU membership.

Speaking at the conference of the Center for European Studies in Brussels, Kos emphasized the determination of the European institutions to advance enlargement, with Albania in the focus of this process.

"We need to open another group of chapters with Albania and this will happen in June. With this step, we will have opened all the chapters of the negotiations."

She added that then the process of closing the chapters will begin, which is the final and equally important phase in the full integration of the country into the European Union.

The EU Commissioner also confirmed that during her mandate there will be new memberships from the Western Balkans.
"We have an agreement with Edi Rama. I always insist that this process be merit-based, but we have reached a deal to finally realize Albania's marriage with Europe," she declared.
