"Hybrid warfare." This is how Prime Minister Edi Rama has described the protests against construction in Zvërnec. The head of government has stated that environmental issues are being exploited due to their sensitivity in public opinion, with the aim of inciting attitudes against development and investment.
It is precisely this stance of the Prime Minister, repeated in several public appearances and television interviews, the most recent of which was a day ago for CNN, that Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe has reacted to.
Through a video message, Braçe asked the government and responsible institutions for more transparency regarding the project in Zvërnec, emphasizing that only full public information can confront disinformation and what the prime minister calls "hybrid warfare."
According to him, citizens should have full access to all documentation related to the project, from initial applications, development permits and architectural designs, to institutional decision-making, environmental criteria, companies involved and investors.
"We have a duty to be transparent, we are not on our own property, although we have a duty to declare our property, we are on Albanian soil," he emphasizes.
"Having said that, amidst all the disinformation that is attacking the information space, I fail to understand that we do not do the most basic thing, total transparency for this process. The first application, the second, the development permit, the first architectural project, the decision to demolish, the second project, the request for a construction permit, the second demolishing, the tasks left, fulfilled, unfulfilled, the environmental criteria, the architectural companies, the companies for the environmental side, the investors, the subcontractors, the landowners, those of origin and those made later, the chain of transactions up to the final owner, finally the money, whose it is, where it comes from, how much will be invested; placed on a page accessible by all, without the need for any explanation from anyone who might encourage or shift the attention of citizens from the page, the complete information and without any reservation, to the person explaining.
"You say we are in the middle of a hybrid war, and that is what it is, that disinformation is rife, and not being transparent is nonsense. Only transparency confronts disinformation and we have a duty to do so," says Braçe, among other things.
