Juela Meçani, the former spokesperson of Sali Berisha, is also running for a seat in the National Council of the Democratic Party.
Among the new names that can be mentioned are the daughter of former president Bujar Nishani, Fiona, the son of Azem Hajdari, or even the son of Sokol Olldashi, Glauku. The Women's Forum and the youth will have representation quotas in the new National Assembly of the Democrats.
The DP National Assembly is expected to elect around 200 members for the National Council. The main innovations and changes are; empowerment and representation from the Diaspora, empowerment and representation of women, establishment and structure for the selection of candidates for the primaries. It has also been proposed to improve the structures of the group sections.
Meanwhile, the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, will present 8 statutory amendments to the Assembly, which will then be put to a vote. The DP is eliminating primaries, i.e. the selection of candidates for MPs or mayors by membership. In the new statute, a committee is established in the party to select the proposals that come in, before the membership expresses itself by vote.
